chrisfix here today I want to talk about the top 10 mistakes people make with their car mistake number one I see people do this all the time they get in their car they started up and they drive right away that's not good for the engine need to give the engine at least 10-15 seconds to get the oil the critical components and let the RPMs drop down older cars you should give you the more time and in cold weather you might want to give your car 20 30 seconds to start up specially when it's below freezing the oils really thick what you should do is get in the car started up give it 10:15 seconds put your seatbelt on stuff and then drive the second mistake I see people make it as they start their car they drive away and they wrap it up or they push the car hard before it warms up you should always wait till your engine gets to operating temp free push the Carhartt a Revit or accelerate quickly obviously if it's an emergency situation got to do what you got to do but never beat on cold engine that their mistake is putting premium in a car that only needs regular if you're not helping your car then no performance benefit there's no better fuel economy level 10 is is the measure of how hard it is for the gasoline explode you can see my truck it says right in the owner's manual regular gasoline putting premium won't help UTI my Corvette it says premium recommended so you can put premium but you can also put regular cuz it's not required to stake number for changing your oil every 3000 Miles today's oils are way better than they were back then so that will 3000 mile oil changes a thing of the past today's oils could last five thousand 7500 even synthetics big less up to 15,000 mi for my truck I do 7500 mile intervals are changing the oil and that's using conventional oil for my Corvette I do 5000 mile intervals stats using full synthetic oil and for my new fiesta in the owner's manual says there's a 15000 mile service interval for the oil mistake number five people don't inspect their car off the enough it's a and that you inspect your car cuz you're driving everyday can't just take it for granted that your tires aren't flat that your oils correct that you have enough coolant they have enough windshield wiper fluid we should do is when you're in the parking lot instead of going right to your car go take a walk around it real quick check all four tires turn your lights turn your flashers on makes your blinkers aren't working make your headlights are working make sure tail lights are working the quick thing that might prevent you from getting a ticket and could save your life number 6 people to check the tire pressure do I make sure you don't over inflate and want to make sure you don't under employee Direct tire pressure for your car is located on the inside door jamb of the driver side you can see here my truck recommends 30 PSI make sure you check your tire pressure when the temperature changes 10 degrees or more mistake number 7 people and look at their tires enough it's important to look to see how much tread depth you have left to hear I'm using a penny and a quarter the top of Abe Lincoln's head is two thirty seconds of tread left in the top of George Washington's head is for 30 seconds to 30 seconds is the legal limit you don't want to be anywhere below that and stay in your sleep you are everything going to look for if you wanted to look for any crack I need slashes and gouges in to the Tire in the final thing is you want to look at the where in the tire you can see here on the inside of my tires worn down a lot and on the outside it actually looks good so he didn't take a close look you might think the tires good but in reality these tires need to get replaced if I lie don't cheat new tires if you get them know there is one of the most important items on your card mistake number eight people don't check their spare tire if they forget about it just leave it there and then when they need it it's flat and what good is a flat spare tire do nothing to see here my spare is actually quite so we need to make sure you fill it up with try not to locate where the air is coming out if it's what mistake number 9 people don't read the owner's manual reading the owner's manuals one of the most fundamental things when you get a car it's simple takes 2 hours 3 hours you read through the whole book you should know what every button does in your car and what every gauge means also every car is different so if you're driving one car you move to another you should know the difference between the two cars and mistake number 10 people don't know how to clean their car properly one of the things I see people do all the times they use paper towels on their paint or they don't use any liquid when they're using a towel on their paint need to have some type of working and shouldn't use paper towels when you're cleaning off your paint what you should do is use a microfiber cloth and have some
