Ms. Sharon Quattrin » Director of Choirs

Director of Choirs

Greetings!

My name is Sharon Quattrin and I am honored to start my 17th year directing the Hubbard Choirs.

I began my work at Hubbard High School in the fall of 2000 as a teaching artist for Music of the Baroque and assistant to former director, William T. Wilson.  In 2006, I started my tenure as a full-time CPS music educator and had the pleasure of touring with the choir to France and Germany on a spectacular choir performance tour.

There are approximately 200 students in the Hubbard Choral Program and they perform public concerts twice a year in the Beginning Women's Chorus, Beginning Men's Chorus, Combined Choirs, Intermediate Mixed Chorus or the Advanced Honor Choir.  In addition, The Honor Choir often performs outside concerts in the Chicagoland area in venues such as The Art Institute of Chicago and Harold Washington Library Holiday Concert Series, as well as various churches and concert halls.  We continue our professional artist partnerships with Music of the Baroque and Chicago a cappella and are truly thankful for the many opportunities these organizations offer our young singers. The Hubbard Choirs often win awards at City and State vocal competitions, and have been invited to numerous national and international festivals each year.

I am a K-12 Choral/General IL licensed educator; earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Ball State University in Muncie, IN; hold a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; continued studies with the Sienese Sessione per la Musica e l'Arte in Siena, Italy and the Israeli Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel; and have taken many continuing education courses through Vandercook College of Music.  I bring to my teaching many years of experience as a professional classical soprano and stage performer. In 2008, I was grateful to be nominated by one of my students and received the October WGN's TEACHER OF THE MONTH AWARD.

The Hubbard Choir students will inspire and amaze you! I hope to meet you at one of our upcoming performances.

Sincerely,
Sharon Quattrin
