I am a proud member of the Hubbard community since 2018 and a Career and Technical Education (CTE) IT Teacher since 2021. I began my journey at Hubbard as a Technology Coordinator; having brought innovative technologies into the classroom for our students, teachers and staff. The IT Department was my first home at Hubbard and from the start, always felt recognized for the work I do and part of the Hubbard family.

Although I continue to have a passion for technology, I am privileged to have found my place in the classroom in front of students to be able to empower the modern digital age. As a new CTE teacher, I aspire to learn as much as I can from my students and other educators alike; teaching is a continuous learning and evolving experience. As an educator and technology enthusiast, I always welcome your feedback, suggestions and support in order to improve the quality of our school.

Most importantly, as a fairly recent college graduate and new CTE IT Teacher, I like to be a role model for our students! I always welcome students in my classroom who are interested to learn more about technology or need advice on academic and life goals. Please email me or come see me in my classroom to learn how you can make a difference in our after-school program Students Working in Technology (SWiT). We welcome new members anytime with or without prior computer experience who are looking for student-led opportunities.

About Mr. Hernandez…

Born in Munster, Indiana, I lived and spent my childhood in Hammond, Indiana and the Southwest side of Chicago. I am a proud CPS graduate from John Hancock College Prep High School. During my college years, I worked part-time as a CPS Intern in IT to better prepare myself for my future! I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a Bachelor’s degree in Information and Decision Sciences (IDS)—Class of 2017. I know what you are thinking, you have probably never heard of my major! My major entails the use of Business Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Database Management and Project Management skills in order to be a business technologist. Not only do I like working with technology but I enjoy working with people which is why I chose to enroll in the UIC College of Business Administration. I have a passion for not only helping others but also in raising their understanding of technology in our daily lives. I constantly find myself in the roles of a technology and network consultant—bringing people and technology together. For these reasons and many more I chose to stay in my community and work in a CPS school after completing my degree.
