Course Description
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am Ms. Acosta and I am pleased to be your math teacher at Hubbard High School, and I look forward to working with you this year. Our math curriculum is designed to help you make connections between our classroom and the world around us. My goal is to provide a rich and challenging program to help you grow in your ability to do mathematics in preparation for Geometry next year.
Bienvenidos al año escolar 2018-2019. Mi nombre es Ms. Acosta y me da mucho gusto ser la maestra de matemáticas de su hijo/a. He diseñado mi clase en tal manera que los estudiantes puedan hacer conexiones en el salón con su vida cotidiana. Mi meta es proveer un programa que los ayude en desarrollar sus habilidades en matemáticas para prepararlos para el próximo año cuando tomen Geografía.
To ensure success, it is very important to keep the lines of communication open. I will be in close contact with you through online gradebook, e-mails, or phone calls when necessary. I know that you as parents know your child best, so when there is a concern, please feel free to contact me via e-mail, written notes, or school phone. We can also schedule a meeting before or after school. I will check e-mail and phone messages daily.
Para asegurar el éxito, es muy importante mantener las líneas de comunicación abiertas. Voy a estar en contacto con usted a por Gradebook, correos electrónicos o llamadas telefónicas cuando sea necesario. Yo sé que ustedes como padres conocen mejor a su hijo/a, así que cuando hay un problema, por favor no dude en ponerse en contacto conmigo a través de correo electrónico, notas escritas, o en el teléfono de la escuela. También podemos programar una reunión antes o después de la escuela. Voy a revisar el correo electrónico y los mensajes de teléfono todos los días.

P.S. Please respond with any additional information that I should know about your child. Also, please let me know if your child does not have a calculator. Any kind of calculator will suffice (even dollar store calculators) but if you wish to buy one that will work best for you child I recommend the Texas instrument TI 30XS IIS (they run for $13 at Walmart).
